Throwing The Perfect Event In The City

As the event planning industry has blossomed the last few decades, there has been a bigger and bigger discrepancy between impostor event planners and premium event producers and managers. Cities have become a premier destination for all types of events, and the best event producers have thrived in this environment.

Many cities have expanded their entertainment and dining options recently and east coast cities remain vibrant and full of energy. Food is certainly an important aspect of any successful event. Chefs have gotten more and more creative with ingredients and flavors. A venue that serves delicious food, or one that will invite a catering company in to serve delicious food is absolutely vital. Mediterranean restaurants seem to be exploding in number. A lot of Mediterranean cuisine is perfect for parties or events, as it is small finger food. Mediterranean is often vegetables, fruits, grains, herbs, and olive oil. Fish and other grilled meats work well also. Naan bread or something similar with a dip is a fresh, delicious option for any large gathering. Salads with artichokes, cucumbers, seafood, or feta and fish and oyster stews are also mouthwatering selections that work well with a summertime event.

Asian cuisine is also an outstanding idea for an event any time of the year. Sushi has gained popularity year over year seemingly forever. It is also small and there are a ton of pieces, which is necessary for a big event. Asian food offers a plethora of options from pot stickers and Korean wings to shrimp tempura and spring rolls. It seems to be a crowd favorite, as Japanese steakhouses and sushi bars have popped up all over the east coast.

Southern comfort food can provide yet another extraordinary menu. DJJ Events of Baltimore produces many events in the Charm City, which is known for its blend of seafood and Southern comfort food among other waterside restaurants that serve Italian, Greek, and other international delicacies. Fried catfish is distinctly southern, as are black-eyed peas, okra stew, and shrimp and grits. These would all add up to a delectable buffet.

DJJ has scoped out many venues as well. The revitalization of many waterfront neighborhoods in the major east coast cities has coincided with the construction of stunning party or event centers. Hotels, restaurants and event-only locations are investing in their infrastructure and design to take advantage of dynamic productions. A rooftop building overlooking the water would be ideal for the summer. In the winter, you may want an indoor space with plenty of glass and windows. Again, the venue may depend on whether they will cater the event or if they are bringing in food from the outside. A bar with premium alcohol, whether cash or open, is also a must in most circumstances.

Lighting and music can also play a factor in the success level of an event. These elements are especially important if the event is to market something or raise money. Having guests in a good mood makes goals reachable and benefits the overall review of the event exponentially.

David Jones and DJJ Events also believe in the power of proper marketing. Effective marketing and advertising methods change frequently. However, this is the era of the internet and social media. There are strategies that are employed by the top event managers. Some event producers don’t even use marketing at all. That is a mistake says Jones of DJJ. “In this day and age, we can reach thousands, if not millions of people with the stroke of a keyboard,” said Jones, “why would we not use that? The artform is in the crafting of the message…the marketing methods and content created.” DJJ and other events management firms have a lot of options at their fingertips when putting together the ultimate event. Experience and resources certainly come into play. Maybe most importantly though, the vision of the event manager coinciding with the vision of the event owner or entity in a way that will drive revenue, recognition, or momentum is the key to a healthy investment in an event that will pay dividends.
